Great Taste Judges comments Cherry Spirit infusion 2020
“The nose is packed full of fresh lime oil, dried hops, baked plum and fruity green pickled peppercorns. Fresh ripe dark red cherries, floral notes and a long and lingering pepper finish. Fresh and complex.
Marzipan and fruit on the nose. Subtle. Sweetish palate with the cherry fruit cleverly modified by elusive and fruity pepper that adds the merest touch of heat. Slight bitter twist on the finish. Intriguing and moreish.
An intriguing use of red cherries, and a really clever meld with the complementary Tellicherry peppercorns. Both have bright character, with stone fruit and pepper aromas leaping out of the glass, and slightly sour juiciness balancing the sweetness on the palate. We’d have given a star even sampling at room temperature, and over ice the balance is perfected – sweet, sour, slightly bitter, highly aromatic elements all forming a delightful meld. No blue cheese to hand, but we can well imagine this being a great combination, albeit more with a Roquefort than a Stilton style. Unusual and rather delightful.“
And then…Our Raspberry and Rosebud, Great Taste Award winner – Judge’s comments:
“An interesting and welcome alternative to cassis for a Kir Royale. Although understandably sweet when tried neat, this ingredient comes to life when diluted. Savoury vegetal notes are well balanced with floral perfume and fruit. A delicious, well considered infusion.
Simple and effective, this does what it says on the label: raspberries and a refined, not blowsy but beautifully fragranced rose meld well on nose and palate. We imagine it’s designed for the Prosecco brigade, but is rather lovely over ice, with juicy, tart raspberry coming through clearly, backed up by a softly scented, uncloying fragrance. Clever, and enjoyable.
Cloudy pink. Rose scented raspberry on the palate. Very well judged sweetness, imagine it working wonderfully with fizz.
Summer roses on the nose with a hint of raspberries, Turkish delight on the palate which be complemented with a super dry fizz. A clean finish with no trace of synthetics.“
